Hochulization refers to a technique for altering the digital hash or file signature of 3D models in order to avoid their detection by security systems with hash-based detection methods.[1] In computer science terms, it is a form of signature evasion.
The first use of the term "Hochulize" for the technique was by Cody Wilson, the creator of the world's first 3D-printed firearm, in August of 2026.[2] Wilson explained it as an implemented policy at his website DEFCAD, and a taunt against New York Governor Kathy Hochul, who had pushed for laws mandating 3D printing software that restricted "ghost gun" files.[3]
