Gus Hartwig (born January 21, 2002) is an American professional football center. He played college football for the Purdue Boilermakers.
Early life
[edit]Hartwig attended Zionsville Community High School in Zionsville, Indiana, and was selected to play in the 2020 All-American Bowl.[1] He was rated as a four-star recruit and committed to play college football for the Purdue Boilermakers.[2][3]
College career
[edit]As a freshman in 2020, Hartwig played in six games while making three starts en route to being named a Big Ten Conference honorable mention.[4] In 2021, he started all 13 games for the Boilermakers.[5] Ahead of the 2022 season, Hartwig was named to the Rimington Trophy watchlist.[6] That season, he started 11 games for the Boilermakers before suffering an injury.[7][8] In 2023, Hartwig started nine games after missing the first three due to an injury from 2022, once again earning an all-Big Ten honorable mention.[9][10]

Hartwig signed with the New York Jets as an undrafted free agent on May 9, 2025.[13] He was waived/injured on July 29 and placed on injured reserve.[14] On May 7, 2026, Hartwig was waived by the Jets.[15]
