Charles Gregory Hines (born 1976) is an American politician who has served as the 40th mayor of Rogers, Arkansas, since 2011. Prior to entering politics, Hines served as a law enforcement officer.
Early life, education and career
[edit]During his studies at Rogers High School, Hines was selected to work as the mayor of Rogers for one day, inspiring him to seek the office later in life.[1]
Hines worked as a Benton County police officer and deputy investigator for a decade; at some point he served as the county's Director of Public Safety. He was elected the youngest alderman in Rogers history in 1998, aged 22. After spending 12 years on the city council, Hines was elected mayor in 2010,[2] defeating Tea Party candidate Kurt Maddox, who was endorsed by Jim Bob Duggar.[3] In his mayoralty, Hines has focused on the Rogers Bike Park and further developing Lake Atalanta.[1][4][5] He was reelected in 2014, 2020 and 2024, though in the last one by a narrow margin — 490 votes, roughly equivalent to 2.04%.[6]
Personal life
[edit]Hines is married to Lisa Brunner. He has two daughters, Emily and Haley.[5] He is Christian.[7]
