Fred Genesee is a professor emeritus of psychology at McGill University[2] known for his work on second language acquisition and bilingualism.[3]

Genesee is a former president of TESOL International Association,[4] and was the winner of the 2004 Canadian Psychological Association Award for Distinguished Contributions to Public or Community Service,[3] the 2014 Canadian Psychological Association Gold Medal Award For Distinguished Lifetime Contributions to Canadian Psychology,[5] the 2016 Canadian Association of Second Languages Honorary Lifetime Member Award,[6] and the 2024 International Association for the Study of Child Language Roger Brown Award.[7]
