Filip Gilissen

Filip Gilissen (born 1980 in Brussels, Belgium) is a Belgian artist.[1] He has had solo exhibitions at Museum of Contemporary Art, Antwerp (MUHKA)[2] and Etablissement d'en Face[3] (Brussels). He has participated in group exhibitions at Life Sport[4] (Athens), Panicz[5] (Ostend), Fotomuseum Winterthur,[6] Bucharest Biennale,[7] LISTE Performance Project[8] (Basel), Witte de With Center for Contemporary Art[9] (Rotterdam), Kunsthalle Nürnberg,[10] Liverpool Biennial,[11] MARTa Herford[12][citation needed], and Museum Voorlinden[13] (The Hague).

Gilissen is the co-curator of Contrastissimo a research project about class and taste.[14] This multifaceted, anonymous series[15] has included projects in unusual spaces such as a nightclub,[16] a hotel lounge,[17] and a high-speed train between Brussels and Paris.[18] Contrastissimo has produced a cast of 7 fictional characters that were exhibited at Kunsthalle Nürnberg[19] and at 4649 in Tokyo.[20]
