Emmanuel Ehidiamen Okoebor (born 21 October in Edo State, Nigeria) is a Nigerian Civil Engineer, Banker, and Politician who serves as Commissioner for Finance, Edo State.[1][2][3][4]
Early life and education
[edit]Emmanuel Ehidiamen Okoebor was born on 21 October in Uromi, Esan North-East Local Government Area of Edo State, Nigeria. Okoebor began his early education at Agbado Primary School before attending Edo College, Benin City, where he completed his secondary education. He subsequently gained admission to the University of Benin, Benin City, where he obtained a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) in Civil Engineering in 1995. He later returned to the University of Benin to earn a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in 1999, with a specialization in Finance, Business Management, and Administration.[5]
Career
[edit]Okoebor began his professional career on 13 September 1999, when he joined Standard Trust Bank Plc as a Relationship Manager. Following the merger of Standard Trust Bank and the United Bank for Africa (UBA) in 2005, he continued his career with the merged institution, steadily rising through the ranks over the next 25 years.
During his banking career, he served in various capacities, including Relationship Manager, Business Manager, Area Manager, and Regional Manager, overseeing business development, branch operations, corporate banking, risk management, and strategic planning. As Regional Manager, he supervised 15 business offices across the Edo Region, providing leadership for business growth, operational excellence, and customer relationship management.
After more than two decades in the banking industry, Okoebor attained the position of Deputy General Manager (DGM) at UBA, becoming one of the bank’s senior executives with responsibility for regional operations and performance management.
On November 15th 2024, he was appointed Commissioner for Finance, Edo State, by Governor Monday Okpebholo.[6]
Political career
[edit]In November 2024, he was nominated by Governor Monday Okpebholo for a commissioner position and was subsequently confirmed by the Edo State House of Assembly.[7][8][9][10]
He was appointed Commissioner for Finance, Edo State and has held the office since then. [11][12]He is responsible for the state’s fiscal policy, budget planning, treasury operations, salary management, capital project funding, and oversight of financial reforms aimed at improving transparency and efficiency in Edo State.
