Need for this page

[edit]

Page written as a starting place to consolidate information about rules. Wikipedia already has pages for Walking Football, Walking Rugby and Walking Netball. Cricket also has pages on its many variants such as Indoor Cricket, Kwik cricket. There are also extensive pages on Wheelchair tennis and Blind cricket. Hence the need for this page.

People who come to this page will hope to find a set of "official rules", but no such set exists currently. The article explains why not, and that teams should agree on a set of rules before they start. The two sets of published rules (Yorkshire and Surrey) have been fused to provide an outline of generally agreed rules. MerlinsCodex (talk) 07:41, 5 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

Rules of Walking Cricket

[edit]

To avoid future edit wars or disputes over what constitutes the "correct" rulebook, this section reflects the reality that walking cricket has decentralised origins. Because regional bodies (such as Yorkshire and Surrey) use different frameworks—often tailored to indoor versus outdoor play—editors should not alter these rules to favor one specific set. Future edits to this section should maintain a neutral, descriptive overview of these regional frameworks and keep the primary focus on the sport's recreational nature, rather than treating any single set of guidelines as a universal standard.

Refrences should be provided to official rule sets used by different authorities. Maybe one day an official set will be produced, until then this is probably the best approach.
