I (Biofuel) authored a previous article on this subject, deleted at AfD in September 2026, and I know practitioners in the subject's milieu. COI disclosure I (Biofuel) authored the previous article on this subject, deleted at AfD in September 2026, and I know practitioners in the subject's milieu. Per WP:COI I am not recreating the article directly; this draft is submitted for review by uninvolved editors.

AfD acknowledgment The prior deletions (2010; September 2026, 2nd nomination) found the coverage trivial or self-published and the world-championship claim unsupported. This draft responds with five independent sources — two of them contemporaneous: the Oakland Tribune reported the win weeks after the April 1978 event (naming the "Second World Kuoshu Martial Arts Tournament" and the light-heavyweight title), Black Belt covered it in its December 1978 issue, and the San Francisco Chronicle billed him "World martial arts champion" in a 1979 feature. Parade's Significa column (March 7, 1982) and Blitz (August 2011) provide retrospective coverage. Self-published and affiliated material is confined to uncontroversial attributed detail and the bibliography.

Source verification notes (for reviewer confidence) Black Belt: verified inside the Google Books scan of the Dec 1978 issue — article begins p. 46; scan OCRs the byline "Cressey" (secondary refs give "Cressy"; flagged). Parade: the clipbook scan is corroborated by ~60 newspapers that carried the identical Significa page on Sunday, March 7, 1982 — e.g. the Peoria Journal Star's OCR matches verbatim; the Mississippi Press teased the item on March 4 as "the story in Sunday's PARADE." Blitz: publisher's own reproduction archived at web.archive.org (blitzmag.net, captures 2014–2016); issue identity confirmed by the MA-Mags index (Vol 25 No 8 = Aug 2011); doczz.net hosts the issue scan. Request for assessment This draft is submitted for reviewer judgment, not as a claim that the subject meets WP:GNG. I ask editors to assess whether the sourcing above satisfies the notability and sourcing standards, and whether any claim should be attributed, trimmed, or removed. The sourcing checklist in §5 records what has been verified and what remains open.

Open questions to reviewers Does the combination — contemporaneous newspaper report + same-year trade-magazine feature + later Parade/Blitz retrospectives — satisfy GNG "significant coverage" for a martial artist? For the Blitz citation: doczz.net issue scan vs. Wayback capture of the publisher's own blitzmag.net reproduction — which is the preferred access URL (or both)? The newspapers.com image links for the Tribune and Chronicle items are subscription-gated; is via=Newspapers.com + page/date sufficient for verification, or should a clipping link be provided?

Birth year kept Year of birth missing — contemporaneous "28" points to ~1949–50 but no exact-year source.
