I founded Fireballs Aotearoa and have written this draft, so I have a conflict of interest (see my user page). I am unpaid. I have tried to write neutrally and to support every statement with a citation. Some routine facts about the organisation's history are cited to its own website and to an article I wrote in the RASNZ journal Southern Stars (2021). Coverage by independent sources includes RNZ, the Otago Daily Times, The New Zealand Herald, 1News, The MagPi, ScienceAlert and Astronomy & Astrophysics. I would be grateful for a review by an uninvolved editor, and I will not move the draft into article space myself.
Use of AI was limited to generating references. As the founder of the organisation, I didn't need AI to tell me facts about the organisation.
