"This draft was nominated for deletion on 21 March 2024. The result of the discussion was delete." Well then why isn't this draft deleted

[edit]

Title 24.115.255.37 (talk) 21:24, 18 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

Because it was recreated, nothing unusual around here. Also, what was deleted was actually an article, but the template works like that. In this particular case, you can read it as "[A previous draft or article on this subject] was nominated for deletion..." Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 07:29, 19 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
Ahhhhhh makes sense 24.115.255.37 (talk) 02:38, 21 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
Deb salted this article name space with the comment "Repeatedly created A7 article". See CaseOh red templates for more deletions and moves. JFHJr () 02:54, 21 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
@JFHJr, was it really necessary to just replace the content with "CaseOh exists"? That is just pure laziness. 48JCL 13:44, 21 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
Aren't you a vandalism only IP? 48JCL 13:43, 21 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
Who, me? I vandalized articles in 2021 when I was like 11. I don't vandalize anymore. 24.115.255.37 (talk) 03:44, 22 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

I'm baffled as to why User:48JCL created this draft. It doesn't seem like they are taking it seriously. Maybe they'd like to comment. Deb (talk) 07:18, 21 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

In their defense, they didn't start the draft in the current form: Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 08:23, 21 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Deb, I did not create the draft with just "CaseOh exists." That is just lazy asf and annoying, so I would not care if you A7'd it.48JCL 13:41, 21 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. It's hard to justify A7 for a draft but no doubt someone will. Deb (talk) 14:36, 21 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
Well, there's all this. Perhaps draft creation protection could be kicked up a notch. If someone wants to work on this undisturbed, registered users have sandbox space. JFHJr () 02:56, 22 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Deb, the creator's comment above might be a basis for WP:G7, but your mileage might vary. If the creator made an unambiguous request for deletion due to infeasibility, that would suffice for any admin. That would also give a fresh editing history to any more private sandbox efforts (as opposed to moving/porting manually). JFHJr () 03:50, 22 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
Fails "sole author"... IMO, this draft can remain atm, it may be useful as a place to point newly arrived fans to. But I'm not going to fight for it. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 09:09, 23 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hello, new editor

[edit]

@1228355310edits, welcome to Wikipedia. If you intend to write about living people on WP, take the time to read WP:BLP. On this website, sources like WP:FAMOUSBIRTHDAYS (if you intended to use it as a source) are not good enough. We're also very careful about copyright, and the default assumption is that any random pic you find online is under copyright and can't be used. Some people upload stuff on YouTube under a free license, but this is rare, and CaseOh is not one of them, afaik. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 08:25, 18 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Full name and DOB

[edit]

See WP:DOB and don't add it without a solid WP:BLP-good source. This could be a CNN-article, or a WP:ABOUTSELF source where he CLEARLY says his full DOB. A YT video where he does this can be acceptable, but a time-stamp (at what point in the video does he say this CLEARLY, yelling "this guy is the feds!" is not that) is necessary so other editors can check this isn't made up. On using other peoples YT-videos etc for this, see WP:BLPSPS.

Also, there is no need for a WP-article to include full name and DOB, it doesn't affect WP:N in any way. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 08:41, 30 April 2025 (UTC)Reply

Vice article

[edit]

There is a vice article that discusses him/his work in part. Just wanted to mention this because it's not been used in the draft. KnowDeath (talk) 20:30, 9 May 2025 (UTC)Reply

I added it as an external link. It's valid but it's not being used to underpin any current content. Cheers! JFHJr () 21:31, 9 May 2025 (UTC)Reply

CaseOh (born: May 9, 1998 [age 27]),[2][3] formerly known as randomsimplestuf35,[4] is an American[5] YouTuber, Twitch streamer, and TikTok creator, known for streaming and playing a variety of games across his social media platforms. CaseOh gained significant attention starting in late 2022 through early 2023, which has continued to the present day.  Preceding unsigned comment added by Trustpuff (talkcontribs) 00:08, 21 May 2025 (UTC)Reply

WP:AFC declined June 11, 2025

[edit]

I declined this AFC submission by Trustpuff (talkcontribs) because this is not the subject of significant coverage by multiple reliable sources. At submission the sources offered 1) provided passing mention instead of coverage significantly about CaseOh; or 2) were WP:PRIMARY sources (related parties) or interviews. No nominations or awards mentioned lend to notability. What's required is in-depth of CaseOh by multiple unrelated parties who aren't interviewing him. JFHJr () 23:19, 11 June 2025 (UTC)Reply

As a reviewer myself I fully endorse the decline. The draft may seem to have significant coverage in reliable sources, but a quick spot indicates that the sources do not establish towards notability. Before resubmitting, you should provide at least three best sources that make the subject notable per WP:NBIO. On another note, I am thinking about the Game Awards; is it supposed to be a "well-known/significant award", and therefore make the subject pass WP:ANYBIO? ToadetteEdit (talk) 05:02, 12 June 2025 (UTC)Reply
It's up to editors, ANYBIO has this preceding text: People are likely to be notable if they meet any of the following standards. Failure to meet these criteria is not conclusive proof that a subject should not be included; conversely, meeting one or more does not guarantee that a subject should be included.
IMO, The Game Awards helps a bit, but apparently it hasn't caused any in-depth RS coverage. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 05:20, 12 June 2025 (UTC)Reply
Right. If the AFC submission had significant coverage of the award in a non-WP:BLPSPS/WP:PRIMARY format, I'd think differently of its mention's value for AFC purposes. JFHJr () 05:50, 12 June 2025 (UTC)Reply
There is the WP:DEXERTO one, it's not that good for WP:N, but it's certainly good enough that he got the award, as would a primary source. I don't consider this svg.com good enough for WP:BLP-use. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 07:10, 12 June 2025 (UTC)Reply
What the heck are we trying to achieve with this article, because it is pointless aimlessly editing an article, trying to fix it, not realizing we are only making it more hopeless. Glazer029 (talk) 17:44, 22 June 2025 (UTC)Reply
This is a WP:DRAFT because it is unfit for article namespace (mainspace). It's here forever, unless it goes 6 months without another hopeless edit. In that case, it gets a speedy. JFHJr () 18:19, 22 June 2025 (UTC)Reply
...or meets WP:42/WP:GNG for publication. But this looks unlikely without future WP:RS coverage. JFHJr () 18:23, 22 June 2025 (UTC)Reply
PS. This draft will need an admin to move and/or approve any AfC. If it's accepted by a non-admin at AfC, the submitter should be prepared to ping an admin to overcome the WP:SALT this namespace has earned. JFHJr () 18:27, 22 June 2025 (UTC)Reply
@Glazer029 the salt was temporary at first. Now it's indefinite due to recent recreation. The workspace is only here now, so if developments occur, they'll be here. JFHJr () 00:02, 6 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

WP:DOB, again

[edit]

@Dabmasterars Where does the source you added state his WP:DOB? Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 20:57, 1 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

It states his age directly in the article, although, now that I think about it, a birth date would've been preferable. It is GR, at least. Dabmasterars (talk/contribs) 07:45, 2 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
@Dabmasterars It states his age at a specific time, per that info there are 2 possible birth years (depends on if his birthday had already been or not), there is a template for that. You obviously took the full DOB from somewhere else. WP:DOB:s are not gold to be mined, if you don't have a WP:BLP good source for it, don't add it. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 07:52, 2 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

New sources

[edit]

Compared to much we've seen so far, these aren't that bad, and I think they add to the case for WP:GNG. Afaict, they're not obviously paid advertorials (WP:NEWSORGINDIA). Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 08:11, 6 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

Also, mentioned in a book:. It's a passing mention, but it does say "gained immense popularity." Bottom of page. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 08:43, 7 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
Wikipedia:Source assessment/CaseOh should be mentioned on this talkpage. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 08:44, 7 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

What should we call him in article text?

[edit]

Baker or CaseOh? Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 12:30, 7 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

Poll the sources; we should reflect what they say. I think across publications' headlines, he's primarily called CaseOh, even though his real name is usually also mentioned. I'm not sure how many of them switch to using only his real name after the mention. JFHJr () 19:04, 7 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

Declined again (!), but

[edit]

@Theroadislong In fairness, I'd like to point out that there's been some improvement since the last (listed) submission. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 18:57, 31 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

Sources

[edit]

Has anyone been able to find any actual independent, reliable sources with significant coverage about CaseOh? I want to be able to find enough of these so that this article can get a green light one day. Please let me know what you all find.

Wikipedia:Source assessment/CaseOh is what people has come up with so far. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 21:40, 25 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
I've already reviewed over it. But I'm asking if there are any other sources that any people have found that might be suitable. So far, I, myself, have found nothing. I'll keep looking though.

@Jibblesnark86, @Gråbergs Gråa Sång the source assessment table is in the midst of updating and could use your help in assessing certain qualities of newly added sources. I've already contributed to previous assessments here and do not want to squat on it, so I'd rather seek your valuable and well considered input as to the new sources. Cheers! @Realcosmixyt, since you submitted this for AfC review, would you mind updating the source evaluation or commenting on the current state of sources? Do they meet WP:GNG (and how)? Due to various protections, this will practically take a reviewer with admin permissions to approve without clearly explained/tabled explanations that a non-admin who agrees with you and can show an admin why... it's your WP:BURDEN. This has been rejected by WP:AfC. No edits since December. There are some more sources available now.
