Request for reconsideration of Draft:Alexey Burov
[edit]@Accesscrawl: Hello Accesscrawl,
Thank you for reviewing Draft:Alexey Burov. I have now revised the draft to address your feedback. In light of these revisions, would you be willing to reconsider the notability assessment under WP:NACADEMIC, particularly criterion 3, concerning election as a Fellow of a major scholarly society where fellowship is a highly selective honor?
Burov was elected a Fellow of the American Physical Society in 2017. This is documented on Fermilab’s Awards and Honors page and in the IPAC’18 awards presentation. APS describes Fellowship as a distinct honor and states that no more than one-half of one percent of its membership, excluding student members, is elected each year.
Burov also received the APS Outstanding Referee award in 2024. APS describes this as a highly selective lifetime award recognizing exceptional contributions to peer review. I am mentioning this as additional evidence of professional recognition, rather than as a separate WP:NACADEMIC criterion.
My understanding is that WP:NACADEMIC provides an alternative to the general notability guideline, and that his APS Fellowship may support notability under criterion 3. I recognize that this does not remove the requirements for reliable sourcing, neutrality, and appropriate coverage throughout the article.
To address your concern about independent and secondary coverage, I have added discussion of the Burovs’ philosophical work by Elena Kosilova and Hugh Ross. I have also expanded the published round-table discussion in Ideas and Ideals, with page-specific comments by historian of science Igor Dmitriev and philosopher Andrii Baumeister.
For the coverage of Burov’s accelerator-physics research, I have added references to Buffat et al. (2021), which examine his theory of convective instabilities, and Antipov et al. (2025), which discuss space-charge effects on collective beam dynamics and cite his work. Both articles were published in Physical Review Accelerators and Beams.
I have also retained the Fermilab news item concerning his work on convective instabilities as evidence of institutional recognition, rather than treating it as an independent secondary source.
These revisions are intended to strengthen the draft’s coverage of how other authors have discussed and assessed Burov’s work, alongside the academic honors noted above.
For transparency, I am Burov’s sister and am seeking independent review through Articles for Creation. I would appreciate your assessment of the WP:NACADEMIC basis and any guidance on remaining sourcing concerns.
