Comment: Not enough independent sourcing to demonstration organisational depth. The two newspaper reports are useful, but say very little about the organisation itself. YouthNet is a non-profit youth and community development organisation based in Kohima, Nagaland, India. The organisation was registered under the Registration of Societies Act 1895 and launched on 1 February 2006.[1] YouthNet operates across all 17 districts of Nagaland and all eight northeastern states of India.[2]
Background
[edit]YouthNet's headquarters is located on Billy Graham Road, near Kohima College, Kohima, Nagaland.[3] The organisation works in partnership with government agencies, educational institutions, and civil society organisations in areas including education, employment, entrepreneurship, and environment.[2]

[edit]YouthNet operates the Nagaland Career and Development Centre (NCDC), a training initiative that conducts workshops on communication skills, leadership, and digital skills for students and working professionals. The organisation also supports School Entrepreneurship Development Cells (EDCs) across Nagaland under the Startup India initiative.[2]
Employment and Livelihood
[edit]The YouthNet Job Centre (YJC) functions as a placement cell connecting job seekers with employers in the private sector in Nagaland.[4]
Entrepreneurship
[edit]YouthNet operates the YouthNet Made in Nagaland Livelihood Business Incubator (LBI), located at the Made in Nagaland Centre, Kohima, in partnership with the Directorate of Industries and Commerce, Government of Nagaland. The incubator is supported under the Scheme for Promotion of Innovation, Rural Industries and Entrepreneurship (ASPIRE) of the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Government of India.[3]
YouthNet is listed as a recognised incubator under Startup Nagaland, the startup initiative of the Government of Nagaland's Department of Industries and Commerce.[2]
In June 2025, the Eastern Mirror reported that nine Nagaland-based startups received seed funding of ₹1 crore under the Startup India Seed Fund Scheme (SISFS), facilitated through the YouthNet Incubation Centre.[1]
In October 2025, the Morung Express reported that YouthNet, as the only implementing partner in Nagaland for the MeitY GENESIS Programme, invited applications from Nagaland-based startups for funding and mentorship support.[4]
Environment
[edit]YouthNet implements environmental programmes including the Mobius Project, focused on youth engagement in environmental sustainability.[2]
Government partnerships
[edit]In April 2022, Union Minister of Tribal Affairs Arjun Munda visited a Van Dhan Vikas Kendra project in Tuophema, Kohima district, implemented by YouthNet under the Prime Minister's Van Dhan Yojana (PMVDY) scheme. The scheme, an initiative of the Ministry of Tribal Affairs and TRIFED, involved the establishment of tribal community-owned Vikas Kendras through which 300 members were trained under the Mechanism for Marketing of Minor Forest Produce.[3]
YouthNet is a partner organisation under the RAMP (Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance) initiative, in collaboration with the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, the World Bank, the Department of Industries & Commerce, and the Nagaland Industrial Development Corporation Limited (NIDC).[4]
In June 2025, YouthNet facilitated the disbursement of the Startup India Seed Fund Scheme to nine Nagaland-based startups, marking a significant milestone in the organization's entrepreneurship support activities. The beneficiaries included startups in sectors such as cybersecurity, with Kohima-based NexusCipherGuard India among the selected firms.[5]
