The Young Investors Network (YIN) is a Ghanaian non-profit organization dedicated to fostering financial literacy, youth savings, and capital market education among secondary school and tertiary students across Ghana.[1] The organization operates educational programs and practical market simulations in partnership with key market stakeholders, including the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE), the Central Securities Depository (CSD), and institutional banking partners.[2]

Initiatives and programs

[edit]

National Investment Quiz

[edit]

The organization's primary academic initiative is the National Investment Quiz (NIQ), originally launched in 2014 as the Capital Market Quiz.[3] Organized in collaboration with the Ghana Stock Exchange and the Central Securities Depository, the competition tests senior high school students across multiple Ghanaian regions on topics including capital market regulations, equity and bond trading, macroeconomics, and personal wealth management.[4]

Investival

[edit]

Investival is an annual financial literacy festival established by YIN as an umbrella platform for youth market participation. The program incorporates educational bootcamps, executive panel sessions, and corporate study tours, connecting young participants with capital market executives, stockbrokers, and fund managers.[5]

Stock Pitch Competition

[edit]

Organized during educational tours and the Investival series, the Stock Pitch Competition requires teams of students to conduct equity research on publicly listed companies on the Ghana Stock Exchange. Participants present comprehensive valuation metrics, financial statement analyses, and investment recommendations to judging panels composed of certified investment analysts.[5]

High School Investment Challenge

[edit]

The High School Investment Challenge is a simulated trading and portfolio management program aimed at second-cycle institutions.[6] Students participate in collaborative teams to construct mock investment portfolios, monitor market volatility, and learn practical asset allocation strategies.[6]

Absa Money Matters

[edit]

In collaboration with Absa Bank Ghana, the network conducts the Money Matters outreach campaign. The project holds interactive seminars on personal financial discipline, debt management, opening bank accounts, and early career development in corporate banking and asset management.[7]
