Whilly Bermudez is an American marketer, author, songwriter, and artist based in Miami, Florida.[1]

Early life

[edit]

Bermudez was born in Miami in 1977 to Cuban parents. He developed early interests in reading, art, poetry, and song lyrics.[2] He later began writing rap, hip-hop, and freestyle lyrics while as a junior high school deejay. He also sold mixed tapes to classmates.[3]

Career

[edit]

In September 2019, Bermudez became the global marketing director for Best Doctors Insurance. Under his leadership, the company's marketing team received the Business Intelligence Group's Marketing Department of the Year Award in 2020.[4]

Also in 2020, ahead of Super Bowl LIV in Miami, The New York Times sought the insight of Bermudez on the logistical and economic impact of the event and quoted him on those effects. [5]

In 2023, "KIT", a 3D animated robot created by Bermudez for Best Doctors Insurance's communications strategy, received a Silver distinction in the Marketing and Animation Character Design category of the MUSE Creative Awards.[1] Bermudez resigned from Best Doctors in 2024.

Writing

[edit]

In 2013, Bermudez published WB & The 10 Good Things, an illustrated children's book for readers ages five to eight. The story follows WB, a boy who initially believes that a sweater given to him by his grandfather gives him superhero abilities before learning that the capacity to do good comes from within.[6]

His recent books include Finding Willow, Quotes of the Sun, Romance Remedy, The Shift, The Hijack, A Free Cuba, Finally, and Cuba Libre, Hoy Es El Día.[2]

Music

[edit]

Bermudez began concentrating more on songwriting and music production in late 2024. His work includes electronic, Latin, pop, country, and dance music, with songwriting and composition at the center of his creative process.[3][7]

In 2026, Bermudez released the album Flying Without Gravity, which includes the electronic single "Who Are We Supposed to Be?"[citation needed] Electronic Groove Magazine described his productions as blending melodic EDM with reflective themes and contrasted Flying Without Gravity, a melodic project, with Opera Brutal, a more festival-oriented release.[3]
