Wael Awada (born 2003) is a Lebanese animal welfare advocate and the founder of Meow Haven, a cat shelter based in Saida, Lebanon. He is known for his efforts in rescuing and providing temporary shelter for cats, particularly during periods of crisis and displacement in Lebanon.
Early life and career
[edit]Before founding Meow Haven, Awada worked as a field officer at the Development for People and Nature Association (DPNA), where he was involved in environmental and community-based initiatives.
Career
[edit]In 2026, Awada founded Meow Haven, a cat shelter established in Saida. The shelter focuses on rescuing abandoned and displaced cats, providing them with temporary housing, care, and support until they can be rehomed or reunited with their owners.[1]
Since its establishment, Meow Haven has supported and sheltered over 800 cats, particularly during periods of conflict and displacement in Lebanon. The initiative has gained recognition for addressing the impact of crisis situations on domestic animals.
