Vivek is an Associate Professor of Quantitative Marketing at the State University of New York (SUNY) at Binghamton's School of Management. He also holds a courtesy title of Adjunct Associate Professor of Computational Data Science in the Department of Computing at SUNY Binghamton's Watson College of Engineering and Applied Science. Vivek is also an Adjunct Associate Professor of Data Science in the Department of Computer Science at the Indiana University Bloomington's Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering.
From 2023 to 2026, Vivek was earlier an Associate Professor of Quantitative Marketing and Analytics at McGill University's Desautels Faculty of Management. From 2018 to 2023, he was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Marketing at the Indiana University Bloomington's Kelley School of Business.
Vivek researches a firm's risk exposure and how it impacts managerial decisions/choices and firm outcomes. He builds on theories in economics and psychology to formulate his hypotheses. He tests them by estimating regressions and building machine learning models on observational data and psychological experiments.
Vivek studied computer engineering for his bachelor's degree from the Aligarh Muslim University's Zakir Husain College of Engineering and Technology (1996-2000). He also holds a Post-Graduate Diploma in Management from the Indian Institute of Management Lucknow (2009-2012). He earned a Master of Science in Business from the University of Wisconsin-Madison's Wisconsin School of Business (2012-2014) and a PhD in Business Administration from the University of Western Ontario's Ivey Business School (2014-2018).
Vivek is an Associate Editor of the Journal of Business Research and the Journal of Operations Management.
