Vinod Chandra S. S. is an Indian computer scientist, academic, and professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Kerala. He previously served as the Director of the University Computer Centre, University of Kerala, where he led several information technology and e-Governance initiatives. His research interests include artificial intelligence, machine learning, computational biology, bioinformatics, nature-inspired optimization, medical image analysis, and data science.
Education
[edit]Vinod Chandra obtained a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Calicut, a Master of Technology in Software Engineering from the Cochin University of Science and Technology, a Master of Business Administration from Indira Gandhi National Open University, and a Ph.D. in Computational Biology and Bioinformatics from the University of Kerala.
Career
[edit]Vinod Chandra began his academic career in the Department of Technical Education, Government of Kerala, serving at Government Engineering Colleges in Kerala. In 2011, he joined the University of Kerala as Director of the University Computer Centre. He served as Director between 2011 and 2022. He got IT Award from Government of Kerala, for contributions to information technology and e-Governance. During his tenure, he was associated with the development of university networking infrastructure, cloud computing facilities, digital examination systems, campus-wide e-Governance, and information technology services. He currently serves as Professor in the Department of Computer Science, University of Kerala.
Research
[edit]Vinod Chandra's research focuses on artificial intelligence, machine learning, computational biology, bioinformatics, optimization algorithms, computer vision, medical image analysis, cybersecurity, and precision agriculture. He has patented many meta-heuristics algorithms for design computational networks turn around as devices. He has contributed to interdisciplinary applications of artificial intelligence in healthcare, agriculture, and engineering for the industry. He has published more than 180 research papers in peer-reviewed international journals and conference proceedings, with publications appearing in journals including Engineering Applications of Artificial Intelligence, Expert Systems with Applications, Applied Soft Computing, Neural Computing and Applications, Biomedical Signal Processing and Control, and Computers and Electronics in Agriculture.
