Luke N. Strand is an American Catholic priest of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee. He currently serves as the rector of Saint Francis de Sales Seminary in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He was installed as the 20th rector of Saint Francis de Sales by the Most Reverend Jerome E. Listecki in August 2022.[1]
Biography
[edit]Early life
[edit]Strand was born and raised in Dousman, Wisconsin. He attended the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and graduated with a Bachelors in Business Administration in Marketing. After graduation, he entered Saint Francis de Sales Seminary and began priestly formation.
Priesthood
[edit]In 2009, Strand was ordained to the priesthood by the Most Reverend William P. Callahan, Bishop of La Crosse. He spent the first three years of his priesthood at Holy Family Parish in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.
In 2012, he was asked to be the Vocations Director for the Archdiocese of Milwaukee. In his first years, he started the JPII House of Discernment at St. Robert Parish in Shorewood, providing an environment for men discerning the priesthood to explore the calling.[2] From 2012 through 2015, Strand battled stage three colorectal cancer, and he is now in remission.
In December 2021, he was appointed the 20th rector of Saint Francis de Sales Seminary in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He was installed as rector by Jerome E. Listecki, Archbishop of Milwaukee, on August 28, 2022.
