Vermiculus Financial Technology AB, commonly referred to as Vermiculus, is a fintech company. Founded in Sweden in 2020 by former employees of the Nasdaq-acquired Cinnober Financial Technology AB[3][4][5][6], Vermiculus provides clearing, trading and settlement systems to exchanges, clearing houses and other financial actors globally.[6][7][8][9]

History

Following the acquisition of Cinnober in 2018, Vermiculus was founded in Stockholm by former employees and former CEO Nils-Robert Persson. The company's first client signed with Persson despite there being no registered business, office or staff; shortly afterwards, 26 former Cinnober employees joined the newly founded company.[7] Among the first employees is Taraneh Derayati, who was appointed CEO in 2020.[10] In November 2024, a second office was established in Umeå.[11]

L4 Venture Builder, B3's corporate venture capital fund, announced a US$5.5 million investment for a 10% stake on March 14, 2023.[12] In 2025, employees became the majority shareholders of the company, as part of a programme to distribute 80% of the company's shares to its employees.[9][12][7]

Dubai Multi Commodities Centre entered a strategic partnership with Vermiculus through a memorandum of understanding on August 26, 2025.[13]

In June 2026, Vermiculus appointed Chris Dorougidenis as Chief Operating Officer, as well as Henrik Rouet-Leduc, former CEO of Noviral Sweden AB, as deputy CEO.[14]

Clearing

In June 2023, Minneapolis Grain Exchange launched the VeriClear clearing platform.[8]

On February 28, 2024, Vermiculus was selected to implement the clearing system for the central clearing counterparties of Chile, Columbia and Peru, as part of the unification of the Santiago Stock Exchange, Colombia Stock Exchange and Lima Stock Exchange into a single exchange, nuam Exchange.[15]

In April 2025, Central de Recebíveis (CERC) received authorisation from the Central Bank of Brazil and the Securities Commission (Brazil) to operate as a settlement system and CSD. In February 2026, CERC went live with VeriClear.[16][17]

Options Clearing Corporation accepted delivery of VeriClear-based risk systems—one in January 2024, and two in March 2026—as part of its forthcoming cloud-based clearing platform Ovation.[18][19][20]

In July 2026, Vermiculus was selected to deliver VeriClear to the Brazilian energy exchange N5X, as part of the country's first energy derivatives clearing house and CCP.[21][22]

Settlement

In December 2024, B3 Stock Exchange went live with the VeriSafe CSD system.[23][8]

In March 2025, Bermuda Stock Exchange deployed VeriSafe.[8]

Trading

In September 2024, Vermiculus launched the VeriTrade trading platform.[8]
