Abuse and security

[edit]

Like other remote desktop applications, UltraViewer has been widely misused by threat actors conducting technical support scams.[4] In these schemes, scammers utilize deceptive browser pop-ups or cold calls impersonating large technology firms to convince users to install the software.[5] Once remote access is established, perpetrators manipulate the target system to steal credentials, download malware, or access banking details.[6] Public warnings issued by agencies such as the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) have explicitly named UltraViewer among the utility programs favored by global fraud operations due to its ease of deployment.[7]
