Troy Ryan Perrett (born 28 October 2006)[3] is a Welsh professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for EFL Championship club Cardiff City.[4] He is a Wales under-21 international.[5]
Club career
[edit]Perrett grew up in Barry and is a product of the Cardiff City academy, having joined the club at the age of eight.[4] He progressed through the club’s under-18 and under-21 sides before signing his first professional contract with Cardiff City in July 2024.[6]
On 21 December 2024, Perrett was named amongst the first team substitutes for an EFL Championship game against Sheffield United, he did not come off the bench as The Bluebirds fell to a 2–0 home defeat against The Blades.[7][8] He would appear on the bench again during the 2024–25 campaign, which came during a 4–2 loss away from home against Norwich City on the final day.[9][10]
On 14 March 2025, Perrett's development was being tracked by several Premier League clubs which included Aston Villa; who had previously shown an interest in signing him.[11][12]
On 12 June 2025, Perrett was named on the full retained list of professionals ahead of the 2025–26 campaign.[13]
He made his senior Cardiff debut on 16 September 2025 as he came on as a 36th minute substitute for Omari Kellyman, during the 1–0 EFL Trophy win against Exeter City.[14][15] This was followed by his first start for the club during the 1–0 defeat against Newport County on 7 October 2025 - also in the EFL Trophy,[16] on 11 November 2025, Perrett netted his first senior goal for Cardiff during a 3–1 win against Arsenal U21 also in the EFL Trophy; but was subbed off in the 87th minute due to injury being replaced by Harry Watts.[17]
On 20 May 2026, Perrett was offered a new contract by Cardiff City,[18][19] which he signed on 29 June 2026, of an undisclosed length.[20]
On 12 January 2026, Perrett joined National League club Yeovil Town on loan until the end of the 2025–26 season, he reunited with fellow Bluebird Dakarai Mafico at The Glovers.[21][22]
International career
[edit]Perrett had been capped for Wales at several youth levels from under-16s[23] and made his under-21s début against Norway in June 2025,[24] having been called up for the first time on 28 May 2025.[25]
