Transcarga is a restarting airline based out of Venuzela that operates a fleet of cargo aircraft. The airline has a history of shutting down and is the second version of Transcarga with the first interiation of the airline being owned by former airline Viasa.
History
[edit]The original airline can be traced back to 1969 when it was founded as a cargo airline run by the airline Viasa. The airline would operate a fleet of Douglas DC 7s and Douglas DC 8s right up until it's closure in 1979.[1]
The current Transcarga was founded in the year 1998 by a former Viasa captain after the closure of the company he used to work for. The airline then would commence operations on November 1 2001 while only using Venezuelan capital.[1] In 2002 the airline would gain a permit to operate to the United States which gave it leverage. Initially it operated charter flights from Venezuela to the Untied States.[2]
The airline would begin it's flights to Houston and Miami in 2015 with the Caracas-Miami flights being 20 times a week and the Caracas-Houston flights being 10 times a week.[1]
In 2019 the airline would try to gain a bid for the United States government to exempt it from being banned from United States Airspace which was denied over security concerns as a result of a ban between Venezuelan flights. At the time of the ban Transcarga had a single Airbus A300 freighter in it's fleet.[3][4]
In 2024 JMB Aviaiton group which is the parent company for Transcarga began looking at the Boeing 737-400 freighters for both Transcarga and Cargo Three.[5]
The airline in 2026 began to eye the MD 10 freighters for it's revival after a period of dormancy ever since it went bust in October of 2023.[6] The airline in January gained it's AOC again and is actively restarting it's operations using the MD 10 for these flights which are former Fedex aircraft.[2]
