Timothy Troupe Noonan (b. October 31, 1952) is an American writer, ghostwriter, journalist, publisher, podcaster, higher education consultant, and former professional tennis player.

Early life and education

[edit]

Noonan was born in Springfield, Ohio to Howard B. Noonan, a mortgage banker[1], and Mary Lu (Kissell) Noonan. He attended Deerfield Academy and Stanford University, graduating with honors in American Studies. He earned a master’s degree in religion and culture from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC)[2] and completed doctoral coursework in religion and American history at Harvard University and UNC.

A top ranked junior tennis player and member of Stanford University’s national championship men’s tennis team[3], he began his writing career while playing on the ATP world professional tennis tour.

Writing

[edit]

He has written and published over 25 books, most privately commissioned through two imprints: Heritage Histories, a custom publisher specializing in bespoke, coffee table corporate and institutional histories and ghostwritten memoirs for individuals, and Midvale Press,[4][failed verification] a trade imprint specializing in memoirs, histories, and the Practical Wisdom series.[citation needed] In connection with the release of the first book in the series, Things I Wish I’d Known When I Started My Career,[5] Noonan was a keynote speaker at the Career Management School’s Fall 2024 Career Forum,[6] the largest career services conference in eastern Europe and Russia.[independent source needed]
