Testimony of Apocalypse is an American Christian metal band formed in the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania area in 2021. The band was started by former Sacrament members Mike Torone and Paul Graham with guitarist and multi-instrumentalist Nick Pacitti. The band's name comes from Sacrament's 1990 album Testimony of Apocalypse.[1] The band has released three studio albums: None Escape the Judgement (2022), The Offering (2023), and Agony in the Garden (2025). Its music has incorporated elements of thrash metal, groove metal, death metal, progressive metal and melodic death metal.[1][2]

History

[edit]

Formation and None Escape the Judgement

[edit]

Testimony of Apocalypse formed in 2021 after discussions about a possible reunion of Sacrament. Torone and Graham, who had both been members of Sacrament, went on to form Testimony of Apocalypse with Pacitti.[1]

The band's debut album, None Escape the Judgement, was released in 2022. Torone performed vocals, Graham played drums, and Pacitti handled the remaining instruments. Cameron Nealey contributed lead guitar to five tracks on the album.[1]

John Harju of Geek Devotions described the songwriting as more progressive and complex than he expected from the band's connection to Sacrament. He praised the musicianship but was critical of some of the production choices.[1]

The Offering

[edit]

The band's second album, The Offering, was released in October 2023 through Roxx Records.[2] Torone did not perform on the album, and Graham and Pacitti worked with a number of guest vocalists and musicians. Nealey returned as a contributing lead guitarist.[3]

Guest vocalists included Derek Corzine, Brian Lyda, Juan Marrero, Jon Johnson, Darren "DJ" Johnson, Corey Weaver, Ville Herranen, J. Paul White, Greg Minier and Anderson Lima.[2]

Sean Bailey of The Metal Resource described The Offering as primarily a death metal album built on a thrash foundation, while noting a stronger groove influence than on the debut. Bailey gave the album an 8.5 out of 10 rating.[2]

Agony in the Garden

[edit]

The band's third album, Agony in the Garden, was released in 2025 through Roxx Records. By this point, Corzine had joined Graham and Pacitti on vocals and bass. Nealey continued as a contributing lead guitarist, performing on nine of the album's ten tracks. Ryan Roebuck played lead guitar on "Cross the River".[4]

Agony in the Garden is a concept album centered on the Garden of Gethsemane and related Biblical themes.[4] Reviews also noted a change in the band's sound. Heaven's Metal Magazine described the album as drawing from death metal, melodic death metal, progressive metal and thrash metal.[4]

My Metal of the Day described the album as a mixture of progressive, death, doom and thrash metal and noted that the band's sound had developed in a different direction from Sacrament.[5]

In a 2026 review, the Argentine publication Del Otro Lado Metal described the album as moving toward a more contemporary metalcore sound while retaining elements of the band's earlier thrash and death metal approach.[6]

Garrett Martin of Solid Rock Unplugged praised the album's musicianship and scriptural themes while criticizing the frequency of the guitar solos, which he felt sometimes took attention away from the rhythm section.[7]

Stryper tribute

[edit]

In 2026, Testimony of Apocalypse contributed a cover of Stryper's "The Way" to To Hell With The Devil: A 40th Anniversary Salute, a Roxx Records tribute to Stryper's 1986 album To Hell with the Devil.[8]

Andrew Rockwell of Angelic Warlord gave the band's version of "The Way" a B+, describing the arrangement as combining thrash, groove and death metal and noting its mixture of clean and extreme vocals.[9]

Chart performance

[edit]

Several Testimony of Apocalypse songs have appeared on Christian Music Weekly's Metal/Loud chart.

In 2025, "Born Not of Blood" reached number one on the weekly chart and was listed by Christian Music Weekly as its number-one Loud song in November.[10]

Three of the band's songs also appeared on the publication's year-end Top Metal/Loud Songs of 2025 chart. "Lost to the Flame" finished at number six, "Born Not of Blood" at number 44, and "Refraction" at number 47.[11]
