Tahir Khan is a Pakistani businessman, restaurateur and digital content creator. He is the founder and owner of Tahir Khan Restaurant (TKR), a Pakistani restaurant business that expanded from Islamabad to locations in Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and the United Kingdom.[1]
Career
[edit]Khan began producing online videos about charity work. During the COVID-19 pandemic, his charity activities were disrupted, after which he became involved in establishing a restaurant in Islamabad. He subsequently used TikTok to promote TKR and its food. ProPakistani reported in 2024 on Khan's transition from charity-related video content to the restaurant business and described the role of TikTok in the development of TKR.[1]
Media coverage
[edit]In November 2022, Khan attracted international media coverage after encountering an Indian family visiting Islamabad for their daughters' participation in a junior tennis tournament. Khan offered the family a lift and subsequently invited them to his restaurant for a meal. The encounter was reported by Pakistani and international media, including Gulf News, NDTV, India Today and The Indian Express.[2][3][4][5][6]
Gulf News reported on Khan's interaction with the family and their visit to his restaurant, while Indian publications including NDTV, India Today and The Indian Express also reported on the incident.[3][4][5][6]
BBC News Urdu subsequently interviewed Khan about the incident and the viral video.[7]
United Kingdom expansion
[edit]TKR expanded into the United Kingdom in the mid-2020s. ProPakistani reported in 2024 that the restaurant brand was preparing to expand internationally, including to Bradford.[1]
In 2025, TKR established a presence in the Bradford area. A photograph published through the Newsquest archive for the Telegraph & Argus showed TKR signage in Drighlington in March 2025.[8]
A UK article subsequently reported on Khan's purchase of property in a small village in connection with his activities in the United Kingdom.[9]
In December 2025, UK food publication Feed the Lion reported that TKR had opened a second UK branch in Birmingham. The publication identified Khan as the owner of the brand and stated that the Birmingham restaurant followed TKR's first UK site in Bradford.[10]
The United Kingdom company TKR Tahir Khan Restaurant Ltd was incorporated in October 2024 and is registered with Companies House as a private limited company whose stated business activity includes restaurants and cafés.[11]
Television appearances
[edit]Khan has appeared on Pakistani television programmes discussing his restaurant business and social-media activities. Express News interviewed him in December 2022 for its Expresso programme about promoting restaurants through social media.[12]
In March 2026, Khan appeared as a guest on PTV Home's Rising Pakistan programme.[13]
