'Dr. Swetha Raghunathan (also known as Swetha Prakash) is an Indian author of children's literature, folklore, and educational storytelling. She is best known for the picture book Padma Goes to Space, published by Tulika Books. Her work spans picture books, nonsense verse, cultural traditions, and narrative‑based educational methods, and she has written more than 25 books.
Early life and education
[edit]Swetha Raghunathan studied at Springdales Public School in New Delhi. She completed a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Bangalore University and secured an All‑India Rank 11 in the CA Foundation examination. She later earned a Master's degree in Communication Management from the Symbiosis Institute of Media and Communications, Pune.
She completed an MA in Creative Writing at the University of Warwick and pursued a Doctoral Fellowship in Indian Positive Psychology and Storytelling at the National School of Leadership, Pune.
Career
[edit]Swetha Raghunathan has authored more than 25 books across genres including picture books, folklore retellings, nonsense literature, and educational texts. Her most widely recognised work is Padma Goes to Space, which has been listed among notable Indian children's books.
Her writing frequently explores imagination, cultural traditions, and the role of storytelling in education and psychology. She also founded several educational and narrative‑based initiatives, including School Story Curriculum, Learn Curve for Girls, Touchstone Alice, and Story Practices.
