Swami Chidananda Puri is an Indian spiritual teacher, scholar, and author in the Advaita Vedanta tradition.[1] He is the founder and acharya of the Advaithashramam in Kolathur, Kozhikode, Kerala, which functions as a prominent center for Vedanta studies.[2]
Spiritual life and career
[edit]In 1989, he received Sannyasa Deeksha (monastic initiation) from Swami Vidyananda Giri of Kailasashramam in Rishikesh. He is a disciple of Swami Vimalananda Puri.[3]
In 1992, he established the Advaithashramam in Kolathur on land donated by Mangalasseri Narayana Swami. The ashram serves as a Brahma Vidya Peethom, offering instruction on Vedanta, the Upanishads, and Sanatana Dharma. He is also the founder and managing trustee of the Sri Sankara Charitable Trust, which oversees multiple branch ashrams and centers for religious study across India.[4]
In the academic sphere, he has served as the Chair for Sanatana Dharma Studies and as a visiting professor at the Sanatana Dharma Peetham at the University of Calicut.[5]
Authorship and public life
[edit]He is a prolific author who has published numerous books primarily in the Malayalam language, focusing on Hindu philosophy, devotion, and scriptural commentary.[6] He also serves as the Chief Editor of Advaithasramam Sathsangam, a monthly Malayalam spiritual magazine.
Within the Hindu community, he holds several organizational roles, including serving as the President of the Margadarsaka Mandal in Kerala and the Kerala Dharmacharya Sabha. He travels frequently to conduct camps and deliver lectures on Sanatana Dharma.
