Sunseeker Robotics, legally operating as Zhejiang Baima Technology Co., Ltd. (simplified Chinese: 浙江白马科技有限公司; traditional Chinese: 浙江白馬科技有限公司; pinyin: Zhèjiāng Báimǎ Kējì Yǒuxiàn Gōngsī), and formerly known as Zhejiang Baima Industrial Co., Ltd. (Chinese: 浙江白马实业有限公司), is a Chinese manufacturer of robotic lawn mowers and outdoor power equipment.[1] Founded by Ma Miaowu, the company operates corporate and R&D facilities in Jinhua, Shanghai, and Shenzhen.[2] The company distributes its products within the North American and European markets.[3]
The company is designated as a national-level "Specialized and Sophisticated" Little Giant enterprise (专精特新“小巨人”企业) and an "Invisible Champion" (隐形冠军) by the Zhejiang provincial government.[4]
History and development
[edit]The company's roots date back to 2008 when founder Ma Miaowu began manufacturing traditional garden machinery, later acquiring Kunshan Greatli Tools to expand production capabilities.[2] Zhejiang Baima Industrial was formally established in 2009, eventually transitioning from traditional handheld outdoor tools to wireless autonomous robotic lawn care systems.[2][1]
By late 2021, the company expanded its manufacturing capabilities in Jinhua's Jindong District, establishing an Internet of Things (IoT) factory with an investment of approximately ¥41 million.[5] During this period, the company's handheld mowers captured an estimated 15% market share in Europe, with an annual output value exceeding ¥500 million.[5] In January 2022, the facility was officially listed in the Zhejiang Province Smart Factory and Digital Workshop directory, highlighting its integration of 5G and edge computing for robotic production.[6]
In January 2026, the company completed a Series B funding round of nearly ¥500 million (approximately US$69 million) led by Zheshang Capital to fund its global expansion and research into outdoor robotics.[3][7]
In February 2026, the company signed a supplier agreement with the French Football Federation (FFF) to provide robotic lawn mowers for the French national football team's training facilities.[8]
Technology and products
[edit]The company develops wireless residential and commercial robotic lawn mowers that utilize multi-sensor fusion. Its systems integrate real-time kinematic (RTK) GPS positioning, VSLAM visual mapping, LiDAR, and computer vision for boundary-free navigation.[9][10]
The company's product portfolio is divided into the residential S Series and the commercial X Series. The residential Sunseeker S4 model utilizes a combination of LiDAR sensors and cameras for autonomous mapping and obstacle avoidance.[11] The S4 model received a CES Innovation Honoree Award in 2026.[11] Independent consumer evaluation by home improvement media noted the S4 for its straightforward application setup and consistent flat lawn performance, though noting limitations on steeper slope gradients.[12]
For large-scale sports turf and municipal landscapes, the commercial X Series utilizes a wider multi-sensor array for wide-area navigation, which received a German Innovation Award and an iF Design Award in 2026.[13]
