Stefano Carpani, Ph.D., (born in 1978) is an Italian Jungian psychoanalyst and sociologist based in Berlin, Germany.

He is a Training Analyst and Lecturer at the C. G. Jung Institute Zürich, Switzerland and IAAP member.

His book Anthology of Contemporary Theoretical Classics in Analytical Psychology: The New Ancestors (Routledge, 2022) was nominated for the Gradiva® Book Award.  

His work explores the intersections between analytical psychology, culture, politics, and contemporary society, with particular attention to the ongoing development of Neo-Jungian psychosocial perspectives and their relevance to current social and cultural transformations.

He is the founder and curator of Jungianeum: Initiatives for Contemporary Analytical Psychology and Neo-Jungian Studies, a multifaceted international platform dedicated to Jungian discussion groups, conferences, publishing projects, educational initiatives, and scholarly exchange. Through Jungianeum, he has developed a range of interdisciplinary projects aimed at bringing analytical psychology into dialogue with contemporary social, cultural, and political questions. Jungianeum initiatives include an independent publishing house with two book series (Re-covered Classics in Analytical Psychology and Neo-Jungian Studies), the JUNGIANEUM/Yearbook, the international digital salon Psychosocial Wednesdays, and the JUNGIANEUM/Biennale conference.  Among the authors whose works have been recently published by Jungianeum/Books are Mario Jacoby, Ingrid Riedel, Verena Kast, Jan Wiener, John Beebe, Pia Skogemann, Wolfgang Giegerich, Mary Watkins, Polly Young Eisendrath, Andrew Samuels, Tom Singer, and Elana Lakh, Fulvio Marchese, Roberto Grande, Marcus Quintaes and Marinella Calabrese.

Carpani is the creator of several influential YouTube series that gained international attention during and after the COVID-19 pandemic: Breakfast at Küsnacht, Lockdown Therapy, and War as Reset.

He has been a guest on the following podcasts: Jungians vs. Post-Jungians vs. Neo-Jungians by The Living Philosophy, and "Peace Is Not in Our Nature: War, Shadow, and Jungian Thought by Conversations for the End.

Carpani´s journalistic and cultural commentary continues through his regular column on the Italian newspaper La Stampa, where he contributes articles on books and psychoanalysis. Previously he curated the interview series Coltivare l’Anima nella SuperSocietà ("Cultivating the Soul in the SuperSociety"), published in the Italian magazine Doppiozero.

Carpani holds degrees in Modern Literature from the Catholic University of Milan (Italy), a Master of Arts in Globalization, Culture and Society from Manchester Metropolitan University (UK), a Master of Philosophy in Social and Political Thought from the University of Cambridge (UK), and a Diploma in Analytical Psychology from the C.G. Jung Institute Zürich (Switzerland). He earned his Ph.D. in Psychosocial and Psychoanalytical Studies from the University of Essex (UK) with a dissertation titled Absolute Freedom: The ‘I+I’ (Individuation + Individualization) as a Metanarrative of Self-Development in a Second-Late-Modern Society, under the supervision of Professors Andrew Samuels and Roderick Main.

Since 2023, he has served as a scientific consultant to Pacifica Graduate Institute’s Extension program. He created and curates the Graduate Certificate in Contemporary Analytical Psychology and Neo-Jungian Studies, a unique program that brings together internationally recognized post-Jungian scholars to deliver lectures in their respective fields of expertise.

In 2024, he created the Routledge Introductions to Contemporary Analytical Psychology series, for which he serves as Series Editor. The series is dedicated to exploring the work, thought, and legacy of leading figures in contemporary post-Jungian analytical psychology. The first book dedicated to the work and legacy of Murray Stein has just been released. It will be followed by forthcoming volumes on Verena Kast, Andrew Samuels, Wolfgang Giegerich, Thomas Singeer, and many other leading voices in contemporary analytical psychology.    

In 2026, he founded The Palgrave Neo-Jungian Series, for which he also serves as Series Editor. The series is devoted to showcasing emerging voices and contemporary developments in Neo-Jungian and post-Jungian analytical psychology.
