Spotlight Stock Market is a Swedish trading venue for small and growth-stage companies, based in Stockholm. It operates as a multilateral trading facility (MTF) rather than a fully regulated stock exchange, offering securities similar to Nasdaq First North Growth Market, serving companies that are not ready for listing on the main Nasdaq Stockholm board. The marketplace is operated by Spotlight Group AB, which a publicly traded Swedish financial-services company.[1]
History
[edit]The marketplace was founded in 1997 under the name AktieTorget ("the Share Square").[1] On 22 May 2018, it was renamed Spotlight Stock Market. The company described the rebrand as reflecting a shift "from traditional market place for trading in shares to becoming a stronger platform with focus on placing our growth companies in the spotlight."[2] Gönczi has been CEO since 2014.[1]
Structure
[edit]Spotlight Group AB is itself a listed company, but trades on Nordic Growth Market (NGM), under the ticker SPGR — rather than on its own Spotlight Stock Market exchange.[3]
