[edit]Beckham, Porter, and Ames started the company in 2015 with roughly $200,000 in capital, entering a market dominated by Yeti and Hydro Flask — brands that had built distribution through specialty retail stores at higher price points.[1] Simple Modern sold insulated stainless steel drinkware through Amazon in a wider range of colors and sizes than competitors offered at the time.[1]
Growth and retail expansion
[edit]By 2022, annual revenue had reached more than $100 million, and the company had become the largest supplier of hydration products to both Amazon and Target.[4] Walmart distribution followed that year, and in 2024 Simple Modern expanded into 839 Kroger grocery stores nationwide.[3]
Domestic manufacturing
[edit]In February 2022, Simple Modern leased a 175,000-square-foot facility at 4600 SE 59th Street in Oklahoma City, its first domestic manufacturing site.[5] Total investment in the facility exceeded $6 million.[4] Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt and Oklahoma City Mayor David Holt attended the grand opening in September 2022.[5] Initial production focused on plastic water bottles, with later phases planned to cover tumblers and lids.[5]
Licensing and partnerships
[edit]Simple Modern has produced licensed drinkware for sports teams, universities, and entertainment brands.[1] The company serves as the official drinkware partner of the Oklahoma City Thunder, sponsoring Thunder Youth Basketball camps with exclusive products sold at Paycom Center.[6] In 2025, the company announced licensing agreements with Mattel covering Barbie and Hot Wheels product lines.[7]
Philanthropy
[edit]Simple Modern donates at least 10 percent of annual profits to charitable causes.[2] The company has made repeated drinkware donations to Oklahoma City Public Schools; cumulative donations to the district reached approximately $500,000 in value by the end of 2023.[8]
