Sandy Gerber is a Canadian speaker and author. She was born in Montreal, Quebec, and lives on Vancouver Island, British Columbia.[1] She is a certified communication coach through the National Communication Coaching Association of Canada (NCCA).[2] Her work addresses communication, emotional intelligence, and leadership development.[3][4]

Career

[edit]

Gerber started in marketing. In 2006, she founded NEXT Marketing Agency. The agency was named one of British Columbia's fastest growing companies.[5] Clients included RBC, TD, Molson Canada, UFCW, TELUS, A&W, Rogers, BC Lottery Corporation, and St. John Ambulance.[5] She has founded three businesses.[5]

She moved into speaking later. She gives keynotes and training on communication and emotional intelligence. She works with organizations in Canada and the United States.[6] In 2021, she gave a TEDx talk. The title was The Secret to Successful Romantic Relationships. It covered unconscious negative labelling in relationships.[7]

From 2021 to 2022, she was Chief Marketing Officer at CubicFarm Systems, a Vancouver-based agricultural technology company.[8]

Emotional Magnetism

Gerber created a framework called Emotional Magnetism. It identifies four emotional needs. These needs affect how people communicate and decide.[9] The framework appears in the occupational therapy textbook Optimal Collaboration for the Occupational Therapist and Occupational Therapist Assistant, published by Routledge. It is discussed in Chapter 2, pages 71-75, under the subtopic Effective Communication, in an Emotional Magnets Case Study.[10]
