Samuk is an upcoming Indian Hindi-language science fiction alien survival and military action thriller film.[1] Directed by Kanishk Varma and produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah alongside Akshay Kumar under the banner of Cape of Good Films, the film stars Akshay Kumar in the lead role as Vivaan Ahuja.[1][2] The film is promoted as India’s first large-scale predator-alien feature film.
Premise
[edit]The story revolves around a Man vs Alien conflict, combining military realism, intense survival horror, and alien mythology.[1] An ordinary man gets caught in an extraordinary extraterrestrial situation and must fight for survival.

Production
[edit]Development
[edit]The film was under development for two years to perfect its script and technical requirements.[1] The project marks the reunion of actor Akshay Kumar and producer Vipul Amrutlal Shah after a gap of 12 years, having previously collaborated on films like Namastey London and Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty.[1]
Technical Crew
[edit]The makers assembled an international creature effects and stunt team for the project. Academy Award-nominated Hollywood creature effects specialist Alec Gillis, known for his iconic work on the Alien and Predator franchises, was roped in to design and craft the practical central alien monster.[1][2] Hollywood stunt coordinator and former Royal Marines Commando Luke Tumber, known for Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning and Venom, was signed to direct and design the action sequences.[1] The production design is handled by Hollywood art director Chris Peters. The makers chose to rely heavily on old-school, tangible practical effects and handcrafted monsters rather than depending entirely on CGI and computer graphics.
Filming
[edit]Principal photography officially commenced on August 23, 2026, in London, United Kingdom.[2] The production team planned a major continuous shooting schedule in the UK, aiming to complete nearly 90% of the film's entire shoot in London before moving back to Mumbai for the final 10% portion.[2][3] By mid-October 2026, the team had rapidly advanced through its UK schedule, wrapping up approximately 80% of the principal photography.
Release
[edit]Samuk is being mounted as a large-scale Pan-Indian theatrical release and is scheduled to arrive in cinemas in 2027.[1][2]
