Samir S. Shiban (Samir Shehade Shiban) is an inventor and engineer known for developing technologies related to hazardous gas treatment, renewable energy systems, industrial safety devices, and structural engineering. [edit]Samir S. Shiban was born in 1947 in Latakia, Syria. His father, Shehadeh Shiban, worked as director of the Agricultural Bank and was known for encouraging education and interest in science and languages within the family.[2]
Shiban completed his secondary education at Jules Jammal School in Latakia, where he was known for academic excellence and an early interest in science and engineering.[2]
In 1965 he participated in a United States student exchange program after being selected for a scholarship, partly due to his strong English language skills.[2] After returning to Syria, he studied mechanical engineering at the Higher Industrial Institute in Damascus.[2]
Shiban later returned to the United States in 1971 to continue his studies in engineering. He completed graduate studies in engineering at Oregon State University in 1975 and later began his professional career in the United States.[2]
