Sabin Kumar Pandey

Sabin Kumar Pandey is an Indian academic, educator, researcher, and former journalist. He is a PhD research scholar in the Department of English at Sikkim University. His research focuses on refugee and forced displacement studies, cultural studies, ecocriticism, and English language teaching. He has taught at several higher education institutions in Sikkim, including Sikkim University[1], Medhavi Skills University, Nar Bahadur Bhandari Government College[2], and Sikkim Manipal University.

Early life and education

Pandey completed his schooling at St. Xavier's School, Pakyong, where he earned the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) and Indian School Certificate (ISC). He obtained a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in English from Sikkim Manipal University and later completed a Master of Arts in English from Sikkim University. In 2025, he enrolled as a PhD research scholar in the Department of English at Sikkim University.

Academic career

Pandey began his university teaching career at Medhavi Skills University, where he served as Assistant Professor of English and Strategic Communication between 2022 and 2025. During his tenure he taught English language, IELTS, and creative writing courses, contributed to curriculum development, and organised academic and co-curricular activities.

In 2025 he joined the Department of English at Sikkim University as Guest Faculty, teaching postgraduate courses and undertaking departmental responsibilities. Later that year he was appointed Guest Lecturer in English at Nar Bahadur Bhandari Government College (PG Extension Centre of Sikkim University), where he teaches literary theory, literary criticism, and postcolonial literature, and has supervised postgraduate dissertations. Since 2026 he has also served as Adjunct Faculty in English at the Centre for Distance and Online Education, Sikkim Manipal University.

Conferences and academic activities

Pandey has presented papers at national and international conferences on refugee studies, comparative literature, mythology, and cultural identity. His presentations include papers delivered at the International Comparative Literature Association symposium, the Korea–India 2030 Forum, and other academic conferences in India. He has also participated in and helped organise translation workshops at Sikkim University.
