Ruby Qu (born Wangyuan Qu; Chinese: 屈王雨安) is a London-based Chinese lyricist and songwriter who serves as a core English-language writer for HoYoverse's role-playing game Honkai: Star Rail. Working under HOYO-MiX, the in-house music label of miHoYo, she has accumulated more than 90 million views and streams across YouTube, Spotify and Apple Music.[1] Credits include the Honkai: Star Rail Amphoreus theme song Flares of the Blazing Sun (2025), Nameless Faces featuring Lilas Ikuta of YOASOBI, and Hope Is the Thing With Feathers, which reached number one on QQ Music's hot chart.[2] Ruby holds a First Class MSc from the University of Oxford and a First Class BSc from the London School of Economics. Professionally, she is Solution Design Analyst at Guildhawk, a London-based AI language intelligence company.[3]

Flares of the Blazing Sun (2025)
[edit]Flares of the Blazing Sun is the Amphoreus world theme song for Honkai: Star Rail, released on 3 July 2025 by miHoYo.[5] Performed by vocalist YMIR and produced by HOYO-MiX, the track is credited to three lyricists: Qu, Kexin Wang (王可鑫 Eli.W) and YMIR, per the Honkai: Star Rail Wiki.[6] The song accumulated over 8.4 million views on YouTube and registered 30,740 identifications on Shazam.[5] Its accompanying animated short is titled "Hark! There's Revelry Atop the Divine Mountain".
The lyric-writing process required Ruby Qu to navigate the perspectives of both Chinese players and a worldwide audience simultaneously.
