Robin van Asten (born 27 February 2008) is a Dutch professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for FC Dordrecht in the Eerste Divisie.
Early life
[edit]Van Asten was born in Delft and raised in Wateringen, South Holland. He began playing football at local club VELO, where he developed before joining the FC Dordrecht academy in 2022.[1]
Club career

[edit]Van Asten progressed through the youth system of FC Dordrecht, playing for the U17, U19 and U21 teams before being promoted to the senior squad.
In July 2025 van Asten signed his first professional contract with FC Dordrecht in 2025.[2][3] [4]
He made his professional debut in the home game against SC Cambuur Leeuwarden (1-0)[5] in the Eerste Divisie during the 2025–26 season under head coach Dirk Kuyt.
Since his debut, he has become a rotational squad player in central midfield.
On April 17 van Asten scored his first goal in the away game against Almere City FC (4-1 loss)[6].
International career
[edit]In March 2026 van Asten was called up by head coach Anoush Dastgir to the Netherlands U18 national team in 2026.[7] [8] [9]

[edit]Van Asten is a central midfielder known for his tactical awareness, passing ability, and positional discipline. He is capable of playing both defensive and box-to-box roles.
