Renude19 (also written as ReNude19) are a Brighton, UK-based electronic music and synthpop collective that creates what they describe as electro protest songs.
The project was founded and curated by producer and club promoter Ash Huntington. They are best known for their ambitious album, Reimagining Allen Ginsberg's Howl, which has been officially approved by the Allen Ginsberg Project.
Key Members & Contributors
Ash Huntington: Founder, producer, and chief instrumentalist.
Christabel Cossins: Lead singer, vocal coach, and radio presenter.
Ashley Slater: Featured vocalist (famous for his work with Freakpower), who provided the full spoken-word reading of the poem for their record.
Collaborators: The collective also features musicians Aaron Emerson, Alex Ball, Jonathan McElroy, and Kevin Kermac.
Musical Style & Howl
Renude19's sound blends genres like synthwave, house, electronica, and acid techno. Their primary release recontextualises Allen Ginsberg’s 1955 landmark Beat Generation poem Howl into club-friendly structures. Tracks like Waking Nightmares, Visionary Angels, and I'm With You In Rockland set the poem's hallucinatory lines against 1980s-inspired future-retro synths and driving electronic rhythms.
The group records for the independent label Out Yer Box Records and performs live audio-visual shows featuring immersive, multi-wall surround projections.
Blah Blah Blah
Renude19's debut single is actually titled "Blah Blah Blah".
Released in November 2022, it is a synthpop and mid-tempo synthwave protest track focused on climate change. The song famously samples Greta Thunberg's well-known "Blah Blah Blah" speech delivered at the Youth4Climate summit in Milan in 2021.
The single was mixed by producer Ash Huntington, features lead vocals by Christabel Cossins, and has been released in several versions including a club mix and a remix by Justin Robertson.
Dreams (Renude19 Remix)The "Dreams (Renude19 Remix)" is a disco-house rework of the track "Dreams" by author Irvine Welsh (the writer of Trainspotting) and The Sci-Fi Soul Orchestra, featuring vocals by Louise Marshall.
Released in May 2026 on the Port Sunshine Recordings label, the remix was put together by Renude19 alongside keyboardist Alex Ball.
Key details about the release include:
• The Project: The remix is featured on the Men In Love (Reimagined EP3) package. This EP series serves as a companion musical project to Irvine Welsh's novel Men In Love, while also celebrating the 30th anniversary of Trainspotting.
• Musical Style: Renude19 described their specific version as a "disco-house builder". It contrasts with the heavier, mid-tempo synthwave style they used on tracks like "Blah Blah Blah", leaning instead into upbeat club keys and driving house grooves.
