Remzi Gökdağ is a Turkish journalist and author. He studied journalism at Istanbul University and began his career at Cumhuriyet in 1989.[1] He later worked for other Turkish newspapers, including Milliyet, Radikal, and Yeni Yüzyıl. Early in his career, he received awards, including the Çetin Emeç Award[2] and the Contemporary Journalists Association Award.[3] He also reported from abroad, including in Moscow,[4] Zürich,[5] Dubai,[6] and Los Angeles.[7]
During his time at Cumhuriyet, he reported on Istanbul's urban development and conservation issues, including the controversy surrounding the Park Hotel project.[8][9]
In 2005, he became editor-in-chief of USA Turkish Times, a bilingual newspaper published in the United States.[10][11]
He is a member of the Turkish Journalists’ Association and the International Federation of Journalists. He has written several books on journalism, Istanbul, and travel, including Park Otel Olayı, Amerikan Medyasında 11 Eylül, Sevgili İstanbul, and Başka Şehirler.[12]
