Refractor Engine is a game engine developed by the Swedish studio Refraction Games. It debuted with the release of Codename Eagle in 1999. Following the acquisition of Refraction Games by Digital Illusions CE, ownership of the engine was transferred to DICE. The engine was subsequently redesigned and used as the foundation for several games in the Battlefield series.[1]
