ROOMIE Sdn. Bhd., operating under the ROOMIE brand, is a Malaysian hospitality technology company that provides digital guest-engagement and hotel service solutions. The company's platform enables hotels to communicate with guests and provide digital access to hotel services, including service requests, bookings, mobile check-in and check-out, and other hospitality-related functions.[1][2][3]
The ROOMIE platform developed within the hospitality technology business of Select-TV and was reported by The Star in 2017 as a subsidiary of Select-TV.[1] ROOMIE Sdn. Bhd. was incorporated in Malaysia on 22 April 2019.[4]
ROOMIE expanded its international operations through ROOMIE Hospitality Inc., which was later discontinued during the COVID-19 pandemic. The company currently operates across Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam and has continued expanding its hotel technology services in the region.[3][5]
History

[edit]ROOMIE's development is associated with Select-TV Solutions Sdn. Bhd., a Malaysian technology company that provides technology solutions to the hospitality sector. Select-TV's activities in hospitality technology were covered by Digital News Asia in 2013.[6]
ROOMIE was established in 2016 as part of Select-TV's hospitality technology business. In December 2017, The Star reported on Roomie's development and described it as a Select TV subsidiary. The publication reported that the platform was being used by hotels to provide guests with access to hotel services and identified C.S. Goh as its chief executive officer.[1]
In July 2019, BFM featured Goh in a programme titled Digitizing Hotels On A Single App, discussing the use of digital technology to facilitate hotel guest services and communication through a single platform.[7]
Corporate development and international expansion

ROOMIE subsequently expanded its international operations through ROOMIE Hospitality Inc.. The overseas entity was later discontinued during the COVID-19 pandemic.
In May 2023, TTG Asia reported that Roomie was expanding from Malaysia into the Asia-Pacific region. At the time, the publication described the company as a digital guest-engagement platform and reported approximately 60 hotel clients in Malaysia. It also reported plans to expand into markets including Thailand and Singapore.[2]
By September 2026, ROOMIE was reported to operate across Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam, with approximately 100 hotel clients across the three markets.[3]
ROOMIE's hotel clientele reported in 2026 coverage includes properties operating under brands such as St. Giles, Wyndham, Hard Rock, Frasers and Resorts World.[3][5]
Integrated payment gateway
[edit]In September 2026, ROOMIE launched an integrated payment gateway for hotels and tourism businesses in Malaysia. The service enables hotel guests to make payments for room bookings and hotel services through their existing digital communication or booking channels.[3][5]
The gateway supports payment methods used in several Asian markets, including Alipay, UPI, TrueMoney, LINE Pay and GCash.[5][8]
The launch was covered by technology, hospitality and business publications including TNGlobal, Travel Daily Media, Malaysia SME and The Asian Banker.[3][5][8][9]
The company reported that its platform had engaged approximately 5.8 million guests on behalf of hotel customers and processed or automated approximately 3.6 million orders and service requests across functions including food and beverage, housekeeping, maintenance, reservations and sales.[5]
