RNA Technologies (RNA-TECH) is an Israeli energy efficiency company. Founded in 2015, it advises local authorities and organisations with many sites on their electricity costs, and develops the RNA Platform, software that works out the cost of a customer's electricity hour by hour.[1]
History
[edit]The company was founded in 2015 by Roni Maman, who is its chief executive.[1] It started out doing field work on electricity, water and gas infrastructure, finding operational faults and writing working procedures for maintenance crews.[1]
The RNA Platform began as an internal tool. The company's own staff used it to read meters every hour and spot unusual consumption, and it was later offered to customers, mostly municipalities.[1]
Consulting
[edit]RNA carries out the energy audits required by Israeli regulation and prepares efficiency plans based on them. It also advises organisations that are choosing a private electricity supplier, and prepares feasibility studies and tender documents for municipal projects such as public buildings and sports centres.[2]
RNA Platform
[edit]The platform uses hourly meter readings exported from the customer portals of the Israel Electric Corporation and OPC Energy, and prices each hour under the national time-of-use electricity tariff, which charges more at peak hours and in summer and winter.[2] Customers see their sites on a map and can compare them with each other, or with the same period a year earlier recalculated at current prices. The system flags unusual consumption using fixed rules, checks meter readings against supplier invoices and produces PDF reports. It also has a chat assistant that answers questions about the customer's own data, and it reads water meters as well as electricity meters.[2]
Clients
[edit]The company lists among its clients the municipalities of Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Rehovot, Lod, Ashkelon and Gedera, as well as Rami Levy, Holmes Place, Kan 11 and the Wingate Institute.[3]
