Playseat produces officially licensed models in collaboration with motorsport organizations and racing teams, including Formula 1 and Red Bull Racing. Its products are compatible for PCs and video game consoles.
History

[edit]1995: Playseat® was founded in the Netherlands in 1995 by Fernando Smit, who engineered a real car seat attached to a metal frame to fix the lack of realism when playing racing games with loose steering wheels.
Early 2000s: Commercial production begins, turning a novel DIY concept into an established industry category for home racing setups.
2006 Playseat® Evolution Launch: The introduction of the iconic Playseat® Evolution design, giving users a realistic GT/rally driving posture.
2010 Professional Partnerships: Collaboration expands with real-world racing drivers, F1 teams, and major gaming brands.
2024: Formula 1[1] announces a multi-year partnership with Playseat® to produce official F1-branded simulation equipment.
Today: Playseat® manufactures racing simulator cockpits for consumer and professional use. The company continues to develop racing equipment from its headquarters in Doetinchem, the Netherlands. Playseat products are sold internationally. The company has collaborated with motorsport brands including Formula 1[1], Red Bull Racing[2] Mercedes-AMG Petronas.[3]

Design And Technology
[edit]Playseat® manufactures several foldable racing simulator seats. Several models are foldable for storage when not in use. Unlike many traditional racing cockpits that require a permanent setup, several Playseat® models can be folded and stored when not in use.[7]
Over the years, Playseat® has combined this design with adjustable seating positions, different materials such as ActiFit and Alcantara upholstery.[8]
Awards And Recognition
[edit]In 2025, the Playseat Formula Instinct – F1 Edition was named a CES Innovation Awards Honoree in the Gaming & eSports category
