Philipp Daniel Haas is a business executive working in the investment and pharmaceutical sectors. He is the chairman and chief executive officer of DEVA Holding and the chairman of EastPharma Ltd.[1]

Education and career

[edit]

Haas completed a master's degree in business administration at the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland, specialising in banking. He began his career in investment advisory and corporate management. During the 1990s, he served on the boards of Rogan Brewery in Ukraine and Net Holding in Turkey on behalf of institutional investors. He also advised on pharmaceutical investment projects, including work related to Slovakopharma, which later operated under the Zentiva name.[1]

Following EastPharma's acquisition of a majority stake in DEVA Holding in 2006, Haas joined the company's management. In reports published in 2008, he was identified as chairman of DEVA Holding and commented on the growth objectives, public-listing considerations, manufacturing investments and Roche cooperation of EastPharma and DEVA Holding.[2][3]

A Reuters report published in 2010 included Haas's comments on DEVA Holding's sales performance and investments in new manufacturing facilities.[4]

In subsequent years, Haas gave interviews to international pharmaceutical industry publications, including PharmaBoardroom and Global Business Reports, about DEVA Holding's international operations, exports, research and development activities and manufacturing investments. In these interviews, he discussed the company's growth strategy, production capacity and objectives in international markets, particularly Europe and the United States.[5][6][7]

In a 2017 interview published by the international pharmaceutical trade publication Pharma Horizon, Haas discussed DEVA Holding's restructuring following the 2006 change of ownership, the modernisation of its manufacturing facilities, production growth and expansion into regulated international markets.[8]

In a 2019 profile and interview, Fortune Türkiye covered Haas's role in DEVA Holding's localisation, export, research and development and value-added manufacturing strategy.[9] Anadolu Agency had previously reported his comments on the company's financial performance, European Good Manufacturing Practice approval and manufacturing investments in 2012.[10]

In February 2020, the English-language business publication The Turkish Perspective published an interview with Haas covering DEVA Holding's investment activities in Turkey, export strategy, international operations and biotechnology investments.[11]

Haas was also quoted in Global Business Reports' editorial coverage of the Turkish pharmaceutical industry. In 2020, he discussed DEVA Holding's export-led growth, the need for a cautious approach to biopharmaceutical investment, the contraction in pharmaceutical activity during the COVID-19 pandemic and pressures on active pharmaceutical ingredient supply chains.[12][13][14]

In 2024, Haas was interviewed by the Mexican healthcare publication Saludiario during a visit to Mexico. He discussed the country's attractiveness for pharmaceutical investment, the conditions required for competitiveness in the industry and Devatis's plans for the Mexican market.[15]

In a sponsored special publication distributed with the Swiss edition of Medical Tribune in 2025, Haas discussed his earlier career in finance, the acquisition and modernisation of DEVA Holding, Devatis's international expansion and the company's vertically integrated manufacturing and supply model.[16]

Haas's views on the Turkish pharmaceutical market, research and development investment, exports and pharmaceutical licensing procedures have also appeared in healthcare and industry publications.[17][18]

Haas continues to hold board and management positions at DEVA Holding, EastPharma and several affiliated companies.[1]
