Perspective Therapeutics, Inc. is an American clinical-stage radiopharmaceutical company headquartered in Seattle, Washington. It develops targeted alpha-particle treatments for cancer based on lead-212, along with lead-203 compounds for diagnostic imaging.[1][2][3] The company is traded on the NYSE American under the ticker symbol CATX.[2]
History
[edit]Viewpoint Molecular Targeting was a radiopharmaceutical developer based in Coralville, Iowa, that originated as a University of Iowa spinout.[4] In September 2022, Viewpoint agreed to merge with Isoray, a publicly traded maker of cesium-131 brachytherapy seeds. The merger closed in February 2023, with Viewpoint becoming a wholly owned subsidiary of Isoray; Isoray then changed its name to Perspective Therapeutics and its stock symbol from ISR to CATX.[5][6]
In December 2023, Perspective agreed to sell the cesium-131 business of its Isoray subsidiary to GT Medical Technologies. The transaction closed in April 2024.[7][8][2]
Research and development
[edit]Lead-212 decays through alpha-emitting daughter isotopes. Lead-203 can be attached to a corresponding targeting compound for SPECT imaging.[9][3] A 2025 paper reported initial clinical experience in 12 patients with metastatic neuroendocrine tumors, who underwent lead-203 imaging followed, where eligible, by lead-212 treatment.[3]
As of September 2026, Perspective's clinical programs included lead (²¹²Pb) bamzireotide navoxetan (VMT-α-NET), which targets somatostatin receptor 2 in neuroendocrine tumors;[10][11] lead (²¹²Pb) lapemelanotide zapixetan (VMT01), which targets melanocortin 1 receptor in melanoma;[10][12][13] and PSV359, which targets fibroblast activation protein alpha in solid tumors.[14] The studies were in Phase 1/2a development.[2][15]
Perspective arranged for Bristol Myers Squibb to supply nivolumab for a VMT01 combination study.[16] In September 2026, it announced a similar drug-supply arrangement with Merck for a planned PSV359 and pembrolizumab combination arm.[17]
Manufacturing
[edit]Perspective obtains thorium-228 under a U.S. Department of Energy supply agreement and uses a generator system to produce lead-212 for its investigational treatments.[2] In March 2024, it acquired the assets and associated lease of a radiopharmaceutical manufacturing facility in Somerset, New Jersey.[15] It has supplied clinical trials from manufacturing sites in Coralville, Iowa, and Somerset, New Jersey.[15] The company has cited lead-212's short half-life as a reason for developing a geographically distributed production network.[18] As of 2026, the company was expanding this network with additional sites in the Chicago and Los Angeles metropolitan areas, with the Chicago-area facility expected to be completed in 2027.[15]
