Perri Pyle is the current manager of the Eckstrom-Columbus Library in Tucson, Arizona and the Secretary of the Arizona Archives Alliance.[1][2]
Pyle's previous research fields include digital archives, Spanish-language collections, human rights, and the history of the Southern Cone in the 20th Century, with a specific focus on Argentina.[3]
Education
[edit]Pyle received a Bachelor of Arts in History from Southwestern University in 2011.[4] During their time at Southwestern University, Pyle spent a semester abroad in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where they studied Spanish and history, eventually writing an undergraduate thesis entitled "Discourse and Democracy: The Argentine Student Movement and the Revolución Argentina."[5] Upon graduation, Pyle moved to Buenos Aires to continue learning Spanish and gain "both career and life experience."[4]
In 2016, Pyle moved to Washington, D.C. to study History and Library Science at the University of Maryland. In the history department, Pyle was a member of the Global Interactions and Exchange caucus with a specialization in Modern U.S. and Latin American History. In the library science program, Pyle's focus was in archives and digital curation. In 2017, Pyle was awarded the Dean’s Award for an Outstanding iSchool Project for their project called "First Generation College Students: A Pathfinder to Help YOU Navigate Both to and through College." In 2019, Pyle graduated with a Master of Arts, History and a Master of Library and Information Sciences.[6]
Career

[edit]Pyle started their career in the information science field in 2016 working for the U.S. National Park Service with the National Council for Preservation Education. Pyle worked in digitization and preservation efforts on various material while assisting in preparation for housing material in the National Archives.[6]
Following Pyle's time at the National Park Service, they would move to Tucson in 2020 to work for the Arizona Historical Society as a Reference Archivist. While working for the Arizona Historical Society, Pyle worked to bridge the gap between archives and the community through several projects. Notably, Pyle organized "A Journal of the Plague Year: An Archive of Covid-19," a collaborative, community sourced archive that sought to collect the experiences of people from across Arizona during the Covid-19 pandemic.[7]
In 2024, Pyle transitioned to a new position as the manager of the Eckstrom-Columbus Library in Pima County, Arizona where they continue to work as of 2026.
Professional Organizations
[edit]As of 2026, Pyle is listed as the secretary for the Arizona Archives Alliance. The Arizona Archives Alliance was founded in 1997 to aid in the construction of the Polly Rosenbaum Archives and History Building with an ongoing mission of assisting Arizona archives and archivists through funding opportunities, training, and a symposium series.[8]
