Payam Mousavi (born November 13, 1989, Isfahan) is an Iranian mixed martial arts (M.M.A) and Grappling coach . He has worked as a national grappling coach for the freestyle wrestling freestyle wrestling, as the head of Grappling in Isfahan Province, and as a member of the country's technical council for this discipline.

Biography

Life and sports activities

Mousavi began his sports career in 1991, at the age of three, with the encouragement of his father. He first practiced gymnastics for two years, then followed football for three years. He turned to martial arts at the age of six . He first began training in karate , then Chinese kung fu. A year later, he entered the ring and worked in the ring for four years. At the same time, he also began training in freestyle wrestling in the junior ranks. In 2005, at the age of sixteen, he became acquainted with the discipline of Jeet Kune Do , and chose this discipline as his main field of activity due to its technical characteristics, variety of styles, and similarity to mixed martial arts .

International collaborations

Mousavi continued to practice Jeet Kune Do until 2010. In the same year, he met Reza Shourki ( Abdolreza Khodadad Nejad Shourki ), an Iranian instructor living in Germany , at a seminar in Isfahan . After that, he took specialized courses in Jeet Kune Do, Grappling, and mixed martial arts with him in person and intensively in Babolsar . In 2011 and 2012, he participated in specialized technical courses in this field in Dubai , United Arab Emirates , and this cooperation continued until 2013. Subsequently, to complete his technical knowledge, he also took specialized courses in Wing Chun of the Wong Shun Lung style and attended educational seminars and private classes of professors from England . He also learned two courses in grappling techniques under the supervision of professors from Russia and Italy during the activity of the Iranian Wrestling Federation.

Executive responsibilities

In 2009, the Isfahan Provincial Wushu Board assigned responsibility for the Isfahan province's Jit Kun Kali Eskrima style to Mousavi, and he was appointed as the head of this style in the province. With the entry of grappling into the Iranian Wrestling Federation in 2015, Mousavi began his career in the Isfahan Provincial Wrestling Board and was appointed as the head of the discipline in the province by the decree of the head of the Isfahan Provincial Wrestling Board. He was active in the field of coaching, team formation, and athlete training, and in the first national championship and national team selection in 2015, the Isfahan provincial team, under his leadership, won third place in the country

National team coaching

In 2015, at the invitation of the Iranian Wrestling Federation and during the presidency of Rasoul Khadem , he was appointed as the coach of the Iranian national grappling team for the world championships in this discipline in Antalya, Turkey (UWW). In 2017, he was again selected as the coach of the national team and participated with the Iranian team in the World Championship in Baku , Azerbaijan (UWW). The Iranian national team won several medals in these competitions. In 2016, he attended a refereeing course held in Isfahan with the presence of Richard Tado , the head of the grappling committee of the World Wrestling Federation from the United States .

Management activities

In 2019, after the transfer of grappling from the Wrestling Federation to the Federation of Martial Arts Associations, Mousavi was appointed as the head of grappling in Isfahan Province and a member of the country's technical council. He was also responsible for the country's provincial affairs in this discipline for two years. During this period, the teams under his leadership won gold, silver, and bronze medals in the national championships in the individual and team categories. Since 2022, Mousavi has stepped down from managerial responsibilities and continued his activities as a private trainer.

Activities in MMA

At the same time as MMA was made official by the Ministry of Sports and Youth and placed under the supervision of the Federation of Martial Arts Associations, Mousavi began his career in this field. After forming a team, he participated in provincial competitions and then became a member of the Isfahan Province MMA Technical Committee and the Provincial Coaches Committee. He also privately sent fighters under his training to international MMA competitions in Sulaymaniyah , Iraq , Tbilisi , Georgia , and Kemer, Turkey , and served as a coach.

Academy Team

The academy team under Mousavi's management has participated in Jiu-Jitsu and Grappling competitions in international organizations including the ACB in Russia , the ADCC hosted in Istanbul , the AJP hosted in Istanbul , the AJP Open Tournament, and the AJP International Tournament hosted in Tbilisi.
