OWASmooth s. r. o. was founded on 25 March 2025.[3] The company was founded by Dr. Barbora Hennelová and Dr. Miroslav Hennel.[4]

In 2025, OWASmooth participated in the Startup Accelerator organised by the Innovation Center of the Košice Region.[5] In July 2025, the Košice Self-Governing Region reported that the company had received a €40,000 investment from Czech Founders VC through the Sherpa acceleration programme.[6]

DORIS project

The European Commission's CORDIS database lists OWASmooth s. r. o. as the coordinator of the DORIS project, formally titled "Sensoric Data Optimisation and Reduction using Intelligent System".[7] The CORDIS entry identifies the project by grant agreement ID 101310121 and lists its project period as 1 July 2026 to 31 December 2027. The listed EU contribution is €499,931.70.[7]

According to CORDIS, the project concerns optimisation and reduction of sensor data using software-based methods.[7]

Awards and partnerships

In May 2025, OWASmooth received the Early Stage Startup Slovakia award at the Slovakia Innovation and Startup Awards 2025.[1][8] In November 2025, ITKeyMedia reported that the company had taken second place in the CEE Startup Voucher 2025 competition.[2]

In September 2025, OWASmooth and Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice signed a memorandum of understanding concerning cooperation between academic research and industry.[9]
