ORGREZ is a Czech group of companies based in Brno that provides engineering, measurement and consulting services for the energy industry and environmental protection. Its activities include diagnostics, testing and optimisation of thermal and electrical power equipment, flue-gas cleaning technology, accredited emission measurements, decarbonisation consulting, and software for energy management and ESG reporting. The company was established in 1957 as a Czechoslovak state enterprise, was part of the state utility ČEZ from 1965 until its privatisation in 1993, and has been owned by the former ČEZ board member Vladimír Hlavinka since 2018.[1][2]
History
[edit]The company's origins lie in a thermal engineering laboratory set up in 1952 within the Czechoslovak Energy Research Institute. ORGREZ itself was founded on 1 January 1957 as a national enterprise focused on improving the operation of power plants. During the 1960s it extended its work to noise measurement and noise reduction, and in 1965 it became part of Československé energetické závody (ČEZ), the national power utility.[1][3]
In 1993 the enterprise was privatised through a public tender and acquired by Orging, s.r.o. In 2011 it was sold to Business Technology Corporation, a.s. In 2018 it was bought by Vladimír Hlavinka, a former director of the Temelín Nuclear Power Station and former member of the ČEZ board of directors, and ORGREZ Group, a.s. began operating as the holding company of the group.[1][2][4]
In 2023 the group launched ORGREZ ECO, a consultancy focused on sustainable business, carbon footprint reduction and ESG.[2] In September 2025 it established ORGREZ DATA s.r.o. as a centre for data technology and artificial intelligence applications in the energy, industrial and public sectors, headed by Jan Huml.[5]
Group structure
[edit]The parent company is ORGREZ Group, a.s. (company ID 24682063), registered with the Regional Court in Brno.[6] Its subsidiaries include:[1]
- ORGREZ, a.s. – diagnostics, monitoring and optimisation of energy facilities; accredited laboratories and emission measurement
- EVECO Brno, s.r.o. – flue-gas cleaning technology and construction of waste-to-energy plants
- ORGREZ ECO s.r.o. – decarbonisation and ESG consulting
- ORGREZ TRADE s.r.o. – operational, trading and data integration services
- ORGREZ DATA s.r.o. – data and software services; operator of the ORGREZIO platform
- VJHS s.r.o.
Activities
[edit]The group mainly serves large energy and industrial companies and municipalities. Its customers have included ČEZ, Veolia's Czech subsidiary, Unipetrol and the Czech transmission system operator ČEPS.[7] Within ČEZ's research programme, ORGREZ developed a prototype automatic biofuel sampler for the heating plant in Hodonín, completed in 2012.[3]
In January 2026 ORGREZ and KPMG Slovakia were commissioned to prepare a new heat-energy development strategy for Bratislava, focused on decarbonisation and including scenarios for 2030 and 2050.[8][9]
ORGREZIO
[edit]ORGREZIO is the group's software platform for energy management and ESG reporting, operated by ORGREZ DATA. It includes tools for sustainability reporting under the European VSME and ESRS standards, carbon footprint calculation, double materiality assessment, continuous emission monitoring, digital twins of energy systems, solar potential mapping, and tools for energy trading and grid balancing services.[10] The platform was used for data collection in the Bratislava heating strategy project.[8]
