Novah (stylised as NOVAH), real name Heyse Noa, is a Belgian DJ and music producer from Antwerp.[1][2] Her productions draw on hard techno, acid, industrial and psytrance.[3] She has released music on labels including Tomorrowland Music, Amelie Lens's Exhale Records and Shlømo's Taapion, and has performed at festivals such as Tomorrowland, Awakenings and Verknipt.[4][5]
Early life and career beginnings
[edit]Heyse Noa grew up in Antwerp, Belgium. In an interview with Mixmag Caribbean, she said she was introduced to electronic music by her boyfriend, a musician, and became drawn to hard techno after attending the Voltage Festival and Extrema festival in Belgium.[6] She has cited fellow Belgian DJ Amelie Lens as an influence.[2]
In February 2022, Novah published her first techno mix on SoundCloud.[2] She made her live debut later that year at the Seven Years Synoid Weekender in Berlin.[2]
Career
[edit]2023: First releases
[edit]In June 2023, Novah released her first studio track, "A Savage", as part of the VA Fresh Blood: Tome 4 compilation on Taapion, the label run by French DJ Shlømo.[7] She later described it to Mixmag Caribbean as "the first track I truly felt proud of".[6] That year, she also released a remix of "Ekstasis" by Byørn on the No Mercy label.[3]
2024
[edit]In April 2024, Novah released "Lost in Bliss" on Revised Records.[8] She also released a track on the Teletech label that year.[6]
In July, she contributed the track "Inner Odyssey" to EXHALE VA005, the fifth anniversary compilation of Amelie Lens's Exhale Records. The 14-track compilation, which was reported on by DJ Mag, featured contributions from Amelie Lens, Byørn, Alex Farell, Chemtrailz and Farrago, among others.[4][9]
That year, she recorded the Awakenings Podcast (episode S326), a mix series by the Dutch festival organisation Awakenings.[10] She also performed at the inaugural Tomorrowland "Atmosphere" event, a hard techno event held at Antwerp's Waagnatie.[8]
In an interview with Magnetic Magazine, Novah discussed her transition from attending raves to performing, and noted that she produces music from a home studio.[3]
2025–present
[edit]In 2025, Novah began releasing on Tomorrowland Music, the record label operated by the Tomorrowland organisation. Her first release on the label, "Papi", a collaboration with vocalist Ceres featuring lyrics in Portuguese, came out on 13 June 2025.[5][11]
On 1 December 2025, she released "ACID" on Tomorrowland Music. In an accompanying statement, she said: "I love creating tracks that tell a story, that take you on an emotional journey—whether that's through a powerful melody in the break or a heavy, driving drop."[12]
In July 2025, Dark Room Bookings, the Antwerp-based agency representing Novah, joined One World Artists, Tomorrowland's artist agency. Other artists represented by the agency include Byørn, Callush and Emilija.[13]
That year, she was included in Spotify's EQUAL programme, which promotes women in music.[2]
On 13 March 2026, she released "Rave Kid" on Tomorrowland Music, announced as the first single from a four-track EP scheduled for June 2026.[14]
Musical style
[edit]Novah's productions draw on hard techno, acid, psytrance and industrial influences.[15] In an interview with Magnetic Magazine, she stated: "Hard Techno is my main genre, and always will be!", while noting that she occasionally incorporates psytrance and trance elements.[3]
Vogue Netherlands featured Novah in an article about DJs selected by Amelie Lens, in the context of hard techno's transition from underground rave culture toward wider audiences in the post-pandemic period.[16]
Performances
[edit]Novah has performed at European electronic music festivals including Tomorrowland, Awakenings, Verknipt, Extrema Outdoor, AirBeat One, DGTL Festival and Dour Festival.[8][2] She has also performed in North and South America.[2]
She has played at clubs including Gotec Club in Karlsruhe, Club Vaag in Antwerp, Club Basis and Afas Live in Amsterdam.[6][2]
In 2025, she performed alongside Cloudy in a back-to-back set at the Verknipt ArenA.[17]
